TERMS OF SERVICE

1. Agreement to Terms
By accessing or using the website located at https://www.mahjongandminglesocialclub.com (the “Site”) and any services, events, lessons, content, or digital properties offered by Mahj and Mingle LLC, doing business as Mahj & Mingle Social Club and Mahjong & Mingle Social Club (“Company,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree, you must not access or use our Services.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years of age, or have the consent of a parent or legal guardian, to access our Services. By using our Services, you represent and warrant that you meet these requirements. If the event is at a bar, we defer to the bar’s policies on age. Mahj & Mingle reserves the right to request identification and to refuse entry to anyone who does not meet this requirement.
3. Services
Mahj & Mingle provides American Mahjong instruction and organizes social and educational events, private parties, corporate events, and other Mahjong-related experiences through both online and offline channels. We may also provide member-only digital features, including member profiles, community posts and replies, participation features, notifications, messaging, and other tools that allow members to connect with one another. Availability and descriptions of Services are subject to change without notice.
4. Booking and Payment
4.1 Payment
Bookings may be made through our website or directly with us. Payment is processed securely through Squarespace Payments or, for certain private events, third-party payment apps at the customer’s choice. We do not store your payment information.
4.2 Cancellation & Refund Policy (General Events)
Some events may be subject to different cancellation terms due to our agreements with specific venues. Where applicable, any such terms will be included in your confirmation email and/or noted on the event listing. Our general cancellation policy, absent any such venue-specific terms, is as follows:
• 7 or more days before your event: full refund
• Between 48 hours and 7 days before your event: credit toward a future booking (valid 90 days)
• Less than 48 hours before your event: no refund or credit, unless we’re able to fill your spot from our waitlist. It is your responsibility to reach out and inquire whether your spot was filled.
• No-shows: forfeit the full amount paid, no refund or credit, regardless of whether the spot is later filled.
We understand emergencies happen. All cancellation and refund requests must be submitted by email to hello@mahjongandminglesocialclub.com — requests made via social media or direct message will not be honored.
If an event is canceled or relocated by Mahj & Mingle or by a venue’s requirements, payments will be refunded in full or transferred to the new date/location, at Mahj & Mingle’s discretion.
4.3 Private Events
Private events, including private parties and corporate bookings, are subject to the following terms in addition to Section 4.2 above.
Cancellations:
• Cancel 2 or more weeks before your event for a full refund.
• Cancel 7–13 days before for a 50% refund.
• Cancellations made within 6 days of the event are non-refundable, as instructors and materials have already been reserved.
4.4 Inclement Weather
Mahj & Mingle holds all events as scheduled unless conditions make travel unsafe for our instructors or clients. If we need to reschedule due to weather or other circumstances, all payments will be transferred to the new date. If you feel unsafe traveling, contact us at hello@mahjongandminglesocialclub.com and we will work with you to find a solution.
5. User Conduct
When using our Services, you agree to:
• Provide accurate and complete information
• Respect instructors, participants, and the event environment
• Not engage in unlawful, abusive, or disruptive behavior
• Not use our content or materials without permission
5.1 Right to Refuse or Discontinue Service
Mahj & Mingle reserves the right to refuse or discontinue service, participation, membership, or access to our Services when we reasonably determine that an individual’s conduct is disruptive, unsafe, inappropriate, inconsistent with the intended social or instructional environment, or otherwise interferes with the experience of others or our ability to provide our Services. Any such decisions will be made in accordance with applicable law and will not be based on any characteristic protected by applicable law.
5.2 Member Accounts and Community Features
Members may have access to digital community features that allow them to interact with other Mahj & Mingle members. Members are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of their account credentials and for activity occurring through their accounts.
When using community features, you agree not to post, send, or share content that is threatening, harassing, discriminatory, sexually explicit, fraudulent, unlawful, or otherwise inappropriate; impersonate another person; spam or solicit other members; or misuse the platform or another member’s information.
Mahj & Mingle may remove content, restrict access to community features, suspend or terminate accounts, or take other reasonable action when necessary to enforce these Terms, protect members, or maintain the safety and operation of the community.
Community features may allow members to communicate with one another or make plans to meet or play Mahjong outside of official Mahj & Mingle events. These interactions and arrangements are made independently between members. Mahj & Mingle does not supervise or control member-organized interactions and is not responsible for the conduct of individual members outside of official Mahj & Mingle events.
f you have a concern about another member’s conduct or activity within the Mahj & Mingle community, please contact us at hello@mahjandminglesocialclub.com. We may review the concern and take action we determine appropriate under these Terms.
Mahj & Mingle reserves the right to remove anyone who is disruptive or behaves inappropriately without a refund. We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone who violates these Terms.
6. Food and Beverage
Alcohol service, when available, is provided solely by the hosting venue and is subject to their policies. Food may be provided by the hosting venue or, on occasion, by Mahj & Mingle. When food is provided by the venue, attendees are responsible for notifying the venue directly of any food allergies or dietary restrictions. When food is provided by Mahj & Mingle, attendees are responsible for notifying us in advance. In either case, Mahj & Mingle is not responsible for any allergic reactions or other adverse reactions to food or beverages consumed at our events.
7. Assumption of Risk
Participation in Mahj & Mingle events is voluntary. By attending, you acknowledge that gatherings involving physical presence at a venue carry inherent risks, including but not limited to injury, property damage, or adverse reactions to food or beverages. You voluntarily assume all such risks and agree that Mahj & Mingle is not liable for injuries or losses arising from your attendance, except where caused by our gross negligence or willful misconduct.
8. Intellectual Property
All content, logos, designs, and materials provided by Mahj and Mingle LLC are our intellectual property. You may not copy, distribute, or modify our content without prior written consent.
9. Photo & Video Release
Mahj & Mingle may take photographs or video during events for use in marketing, social media, and promotional materials. By attending, you grant us permission to use your image or likeness for these purposes without compensation. If you’d prefer not to be photographed or filmed, please notify us at hello@mahjongandminglesocialclub.com in advance of the event, or let a staff member know on-site. Mahj & Mingle does not use facial recognition or other biometric scanning technology on photos or video collected at events. Images are used solely for general promotional and marketing purposes.
10. Disclaimer of Warranties
Our services are provided “as is” and “as available.” We do not guarantee that our website or services will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, and we disclaim all warranties to the fullest extent permitted by law.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Mahj & Mingle is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising out of your attendance or use of our services.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Mahj & Mingle, its owners, staff, and affiliates from any claims, damages, or expenses arising out of your use of our services, your attendance at an event, or your violation of these Terms.
13. Dispute Resolution
In the event of any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating in any way to Mahj & Mingle, including but not limited to these Terms, our website, or your interactions with us in any capacity, you agree to first contact us directly at hello@mahjongandminglesocialclub.com to seek an informal resolution. If the dispute is not resolved within 30 days, the parties agree that mediation with a mutually agreed-upon mediator is a required precondition to any legal action. Mediation shall take place in Cook County, Illinois. The parties shall share the mediator’s fees equally; however, the prevailing party may be entitled to recover reasonable mediation costs from the non-prevailing party. All mediation proceedings shall be kept confidential. If the dispute remains unresolved following mediation, it may be pursued through binding arbitration or small claims court in Cook County, Illinois, as applicable.

15. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
16. Modifications
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes will be posted on this page.
